Christmas Tree History

Germany is the one who came out with the idea of having Christmas tree tradition in the 16th century. Afterwards, Christmas trees was brought first on 18th Century to America by the German settlers of Pennsylvania. But at that time, it was not commonly accepted by Americans. However, by the 1890s Christmas ornaments were imported from Germany and Christmas tree popularity was on the trend among Americans. The trend was influenced by the fashionable Queen Victoria who was illustrated standing by a Christmas tree with her family in 1846.

In early 20th century, Americans used homemade ornaments to decorate their trees, while the German-American were using apples, nuts, and marzipan cookies. When the electricity brought as Christmas lights which enable Christmas trees to glow. From there, Christmas trees began to appear in town squares all over the country. From then on, having a Christmas tree in the home became an American tradition. Nowadays, people use many kind of ornaments, from Christmas balls to candy canes.
