Upcycled Valentine Wall Decoration

I was so excited when Julie from Sum Of Their Stories invited me to join her Monthly Sustainable Pinterest Challenge. What is this Sustainable Pinterest Challenge? For the explanation, scroll down below, I just copy paste it from Julie. Lol, I hope she doesn’t mind.

The Pinterest Challenge has had a bit of a reboot for 2022 and is now the Sustainable Pinterest Challenge. Each month I join a group of creative bloggers and we select a pin or two to we feel inspired by and give it a go. Starting in January 2022 the Pinterest Challenge has a sustainable, eco friendly twist to it. All the projects shared will have something about them that involves recycling, upcycling, a general ethos of reducing waste and using what we have. It’s not about beating ourselves with a stick, it’s just about giving thought to how we can make small changes in our lives just a little more sustainable and reduce our impact on the environment.

This month the theme is “From The Kitchen” so I thought of my broken baking pan right away. I couldn’t use it anymore as it’s already leaked, but I still keep it. Yup, I’m a bit of a hoarder. Then I spotted a round wall decoration on Pinterest which inspired me to make use of the ring side of my old baking pan into a Valentine Wall Decoration. I incorporated my Valentine Card from CD into this project. So, let’s find out more on how I made it.

Things To Prepare

For this upcycling project, I took my old project of Valentine Card From CD as one of the main ornament. So, this is actually an upcyling upcycled project. LOL! I sometimes do that if I think of new idea of incorporating my old project with the new one. And this Valentine wall decoration is a great way to preserve your precious Valentine card from your loved one. Anyway, let’s see what I use to make this Upcycled Valentine Wall Decoration:

  • A Valentine card made out of CD (click to learn how I made it) or you can use any of your Valentine card or ornament.
  • Old baking pan (just use the outer ring side, it’s a removable baking pan – springform pan)
  • White paint
  • Pink checkered ribbon
  • Gold ribbon
  • Glue

How To Make

It’s so easy to make, and super quick. Most of all it’s an upcycling decoration from the kitchen. Now, gather all the supplies which I’ve mentioned above and follow these easy steps on how to make Upcycled Valentine Wall Decoration :

1 . Take the old outer ring of the springform pan and clean it. Let it dry. Then you can paint it effortless with white paint to make a rustic look which I like. Leave it to dry.

2. Continue with inserting the ribbon hanger of the CD Valentine Card in the pan’s lock. Secure it.

3 .Make a ribbon out of gold and pink checkered ribbon. Paste the ribbon to the top of the ring, by the lock. Done! Hang it somewhere that you like to decor your home with Valentine’s vibes.

Now let’s take a look at what the other Sustainable Pinterest Challenge participants have made for their “From The Kitchen” challenge.

    1. Aww, thank you so much, Gail! It is amazing to give an unattractive kitchen “junk” a new pretty life. I like this month’s challenge. Thanks for the warm welcome, so excited for the next month’s challenge!

  2. I love it Mel, and I’m so pleased to have you join us at the Sustainable Pinterest Challenge.
I have a couple of narrow rings that used to be my mums that I’ve kept as they are too good to throw away, you know the kind of thing! Like the sides of a spring form tin but with no bottom so you just put them on a baking tray and only about 1 1/2 ” high. They could be great for soemthing like this, I will have to dig them out and see what I can do.

    1. Yes, I always think there is a potential from a “junk” and then keep it. So my family said I’m a hoarder. LOL! Well, I’m sure you can be creative with your ring and come out with something special. Thank you so much, Julie!

  3. Adorable! So glad to have you with us this month. It’s my first month too. Your pan is so cute & matches your CD card. So cute. The link in the Linky Party isn’t coming to your page. It’s giving a 404 error, but I’m changing the link on my site (not int the link party because I can’t change that) to this page.
